Bluebird Mobile Bookshop Series Pt. 2: Why a Trailer?

So you wanna know: Why a pull behind trailer and not a vehicle?
This was an easy question to answer…at the time. A trailer felt like the best option because I would never have to worry about engine maintenance AND it was the less expensive option at the time. BUT I was fortunate that we already had an SUV that could pull the trailer which heavily influenced that.
The pros to the trailer?
✅ I can park it and not worry about the engine starting up.
✅ I don’t have to worry about the added expense of another engine, in addition to my household’s vehicles.
✅ The vintage trailer is so much cuter.😂
The cons? (And there are a lot…)
👎🏻 I’m the only one in my network that can hitch it up and park and drive it.
👎🏻 I’d love to just be able to turn it on and go.
👎🏻 A vehicle, like a step van, could carry more weight then a vintage trailer is intended to carry: because of this, I would bring half the collection of books in bins that I transported in my SUV and set up the day of an event. LABOR INTENSIVE.
👎🏻 You need a vehicle that can tow the trailer which is an added cost.
I would …likely…. Make the same decision again. I think. However I would have given those cons way more thought mostly due to the inconvenience and labor of it.
